Two men suspected of robbery were shot by police in Sebokeng this evening. Members of the Gauteng Tactical Response Team (TRT) were patrolling Houtkop Road when they spotted a vehicle that had been reported stolen and had a fake registration plate.
Police tried to stop it with sirens but it sped away and the suspects fired shots at the officers, prompting a chase and return fire. The suspects’ vehicle overturned, and one of the suspects attempted to flee but fell to the ground after running a few metres from the vehicle. Paramedics confirmed that both suspects were dead. Police seized the suspects’ firearm and explosives found in the vehicle, which will be tested. The vehicle was stolen in Carletonville in January 2026.
